Chiky Botanica ~ Self care infused with desert magic.

Of all the incredible small businesses I’ve discovered, this might be the most excited I’ve ever been to introduce a brand to you guys! Chiky Botanica has won my heart.

First a little backstory.

I was born in the California high desert and I took my surroundings for granted while growing up. Miniature sand tornadoes and rolling tumbleweeds were just a part of life. I didn’t notice the sage-scented winds or the mountains that distantly framed my every day views. I did not appreciate how it might be 105 degrees during the day but at night you opened your windows because the night air was always cool. Even the way you could see through miles and miles of land, sparsely populated with rare Joshua trees, didn’t register in my mind as anything special.

Then I spent a few years in Texas and literally experienced a “geographical culture-shock”. When I moved back to California a few years later, I vowed to never take the desert for granted again! Now I live by the beach but always carry fond memories of my hometown close to my heart.

Imagine my excitement when…

I was scrolling the ‘gram and somebody posted about a roll-on oil called *drumroll* … High Desert Wildcrafted Blend! When I read the bottle saying “Transport yourself to the magic of the California high desert…” I knew I had to have it! Thus I discovered Chiky Botanica, a woman-owned business based in the mountains of southern California.

They wildcraft their herbs directly from the land they own, they are completely organic, and never use artificial or synthetic ingredients.

The High Desert roll-on oil smells EXACTLY like my hometown! Purple Sage and Yerba Santa give me such nostalgic, feel-good vibes! When I dab it on my wrists I can take a piece of home wherever I go. This is an enchanting oil that would be excellent to use in a ritual or for mediation.

The sumptuous Illumination Elixir contains Balsam Fir, Jasmine, and Calendula. The light fragrance reminds me of the cooler mountains of southern California. Using it on my legs after a shower keeps them feeling ultra hydrated and silky soft.

Their very popular Serene Serum was formulated for sensitive, blemish-prone, or tired skin. It has a faint scent of Lavender and Frankincense which are both incredible pick-me-ups for your skin. It can be used with your moisturizer or in place of it because oils are closer in composition to your own skin and actually more easily absorbed!

Needless to say, this little brand is very dear to me for sentimental reasons. As an advocate for self love and self care, I highly recommend Chiky Botanica! Their products make my skincare routine feel so much more special and meaningful.
