This is not your average travel photo.
This isn’t a travel photo at all because I DON’T TRAVEL!
It’s not something I ever imagined or dreamed about. I have been fascinated by my own home state ever since a teacher in 4th grade exclaimed on and on about how unique and diverse California is. She said it was the prettiest state in the country because we have rugged mountains and vast flatlands and arid deserts and sandy beaches and cliffside beaches and wooded forests… ALL IN ONE STATE! I grew up with a huge sense of pride living here.
In a journal entry from a few years back I wrote “Friday I woke up in the desert and relaxed by my parents pool all day. Saturday I was at the lake drinking White Claws and riding on a boat. Sunday I was back home with my feet in the ocean.”
I love that one day I can go hiking in the cool mountains, surrounded by fragrant pine trees, discovering waterfalls. The very next day I can go exploring the rocky cliffs and caves along the coastline, finding seaglass. Or venture to the desert where I feel at home among the Juniper, Sage bushes, Joshua trees, and blazing sun.
I am never bored because there is beautiful and interesting scenery literally any direction I look. I am so happy and grateful to live somewhere that I don’t need a vacation from!
Tell me about your home state! What do you love about it? What makes it unique?
Here are some views of southern California that I get to enjoy on a regular basis!
