Festival season is here and for almost a year I’ve been planning for Lightning in a Bottle in Kern County, California! This festival is one of the “smaller” ones and doesn’t often appear on lists with the big hits like Coachella, EDC, or SXSW. But what makes Lightning in a Bottle different is how immersive it is. Six days of music, art, meditation, yoga, dance, games, seminars, and more! Although one of the things I’m most excited about is creating epic rave and festival outfits!
Clothing is literally the most prominent way we express ourselves to the world.
Festivals are a place you can wear anything without judgement. You can be as wild, bold, and free spirited as you want. I’ve been brainstorming for a few weeks and thought I would share some of my rave and festival outfit inspiration here.
8 Ways To Create Fun Rave and Festival Outfits:
Fringe & tassels!
You literally can’t go wrong with fringe. Fringe on a jacket, on a shirt, on a bikini, on pants, on shoes? YES to all of the above! Fringe just screams boho vibes and looks amazing on anybody.
Faux fur!
Furry jackets are such a stylish way to keep warm during cooler nights. You can even find fur bikinis or fur boots!
Holographic, iridescent, or neon!
Festivals are the ideal place to go above and beyond with your outfits! NO color is off limits and the brighter and flashier, the better.
Sequins & glitter!
Clothing with sequins or crystals is always an eye catching choice. But don’t limit the sparkle to your clothes! Use glittery makeup, body glitter, and crystal stickers!
Sheer coverup pieces!
Wanna know one of the easiest ways to create epic rave and festival outfits? Start with a bikini or bathing suit and throw a coverup over it! Think sheer, netted, lace, flowy materials. (TIP: Add a belt or tie something around the waist to keep it in place.)
Fishnet, cutout, or ripped material!
There’s no better way to add some edge to your outfit than with fishnet or ripped material!
Hats!
Since most festivals run during the day, hats are the perfect way to shade your eyes while looking stylish also! Cowboy hats look fab during the day, and “baker boy” or conductor hats are stylish at night.
Accessories & MORE accessories!
Think chunky necklaces, bracelets, and earrings. Arm cuffs. Body chains. Belts. Fingerless gloves. Sunglasses. Crowns. Colorful hair extensions. When you think you have enough, add more! The possibilities for epic rave and festival outfits are ENDLESS!
