Forenote: This advice is aimed towards influencers, artists, creators, and anybody looking to expand their reach. If you prefer your account to be private and/or use Instagram for personal reasons (sharing with family and friends, for example) then this information isn’t very useful for you.
Let’s discuss why you should switch to an Instagram creator account!
There are 3 Instagram account types: Personal, Creator, and Business. They serve slightly different purposes and choosing the right one will help your content get to the most ideal audience. A personal account is self explanatory and we won’t be going over that. The creator and business accounts only have minor differences.
HERE’S WHAT BOTH OFFER:
- Insights give you valuable statistics to see how your posts perform.
- The multi-folder inbox lets you separate important (primary) messages from general messages.
- Paid partnership labels allow you to collaborate with brands.
- You can sell merchandise with the shoppable posts feature.
- You get extra contact buttons like email, phone number, and address.
THESE ARE THE DIFFERENCES:
- A business account does not allow you to use licensed music whereas a creator account does.
- A business account allows you to add an address whereas a creator account does not.
HERE’S HOW TO CHANGE INSTAGRAM ACCOUNT TYPES:
Tap on the menu icon up top. Menu > Settings > Account > Switch Account Type. Choose the category that describes your account then select weather you want a business or creator account. Personally, I find the Instagram creator account to be most useful for my needs but feel free to test them both out! You can switch your account type any time so don’t stress about choosing right or wrong.
