Let’s talk about what types of comments the Instagram algorithm prefers. Things always seem to be changing on the app but today’s advice is relevant at any time if you want to build and maintain a strong community!
Once upon a time the algorithm rewarded an account for the amount of likes their photos received. More hearts must have meant people liked the posts, right? But in reality it was all too easy to simply scroll and like every single photo. It became a meaningless gauge as we started to care too much about likes only.
So now Instagram considers comments, shares, and saves more important than likes. The app is encouraging us to build better relationships with our followers rather than just considering it a popularity contest.
One of the ways you can get the Instagram algorithm to recognize you more is by encouraging comments LONGER THAN FOUR WORDS. So write captions that strike up conversation and end your captions by asking a detailed question. Then make sure to REPLY to your comments and keep the conversations going. I’ve made some amazing friends by actually taking more time to interact with my followers!
