You would not catch me in a thrift store in my 20’s! I was young and I cared about brand names and appearances way too much. On top of that, I always imagined thrift stores as a bunch of unwashed clothes hanging on the racks. I definitely didn’t have the patience to sift through aisles of chaos looking for hidden treasures!
Isn’t it interesting how much changes as you get older? Now I adore thrift stores! Obviously the bargains are a great perk. But I enjoy the hunt and I feel so proud when I find something unique! More importantly, I started shopping more responsibly after I became aware of the environmental impacts of the fashion industry.
Introducing the thrift store of my dreams…
My favorite place for treasure hunting in Laguna Beach is a small thrift store called Treasures of Laguna! Walking inside feels like you’re entering a stylish, chic boutique. The racks and shelves are well organized and the environment is cozy.
Treasures of Laguna is also a non-profit that assists homeless artists, single mothers, and those struggling with addiction and mental illness.
This boho, macramé, duster sweater is one of my favorite purchases from Treasures of Laguna. It matches literally everything and makes an excellent beachy cover-up in summer!
Cool story about the sunflower: We were shooting next to The Flower Stand and spur of the moment I decided to buy one for a prop. The charming owner actually offered to give it to me! The sunflower definitely makes me feel all the hippie vibes!
