What in the world would I do without Instagram?! In just 5 minutes I’m up-to-date on the latest fashion trends that I would never wear in public. I know where the hottest cafe in Paris is, that I’ll never visit. I also know all the real estate listings my high school classmates are selling. So much important information!
Alright alright, I’m guilty of posting lame crap myself. And I really do love Instagram but there are some Instagram trends that make me cringe.
Starbucks
I’d be willing to bet a Starbucks cup is one of the top 5 props EVER used on Instagram (particularly by female fashion influencers). Once upon a time I loved Starbucks too, but I got burnt out on over-priced beverages and advertising a billion dollar corporation for free.
PS- Wherever you live, I guarantee there’s a small coffee shop nearby who would be overjoyed to have you as a customer, posing with their coffee, and tagging them!
Shackets
Now that fall is here, the shackets are everywhere and I just can’t! Millennials love their shackets but I think they look like your dads frumpy, old, work coat or a bums dirty blanket. And I just hate the word shacket. To aggravate me more, the red line of my spell check is yelling at me like honey, that’s not a word.
Skincare Tutorials
I just do not enjoy watching somebody in their bathroom, tying their hair back, washing their face, dripping serum on, rubbing moisturizer in, etc. I know how to wash my face, thank you! And don’t forgot the part where they pitch their discount code for 10% off.
But wait! I’m not a complete buzzkill and there ARE some Instagram trends that I enjoy!
Catchy Reel Transitions
How I pray to the InstaGods to bless me with the ability to create epic transitions! I just can’t seem to get this one down, but I also don’t have the patience to practice. 🤷♀️
